Network Performance to honor Martin Luther King Day with a volunteer computer project at Vermont Campaign to End Childhood Hunger
South Burlington, VT – January 13, 2004
Martin Luther King, Jr. fought for more than civil rights; he was an advocate for those struggling economically as well. King's "Poor People's Campaign" advocated what he called an "economic bill of rights." In 2004 America is still struggling with an economic imbalance and poverty. The Vermont Campaign to End Childhood Hunger (VTCECH) is working to help Vermont children whose circumstances put them in need. Network Performance Inc. (NPI) is honored to help VTCECH meet its goals while also honoring the memory and teachings of Martin Luther King, Jr. by practicing what he called "creative altruism."
NPI will close its office Martin Luther King Day (Monday, January 19th) and the entire staff will go on-site to VTCECH to provide critical automation improvements. Consultants from NPI will also work with VTCECH to design a network plan that can be used to make further improvements in the years to come. It is expected that NPI will spend fifty-two work hours at VTCECH during this day. This will be "a day on, not a day off" (Coretta Scott King) for everyone involved.
"We are thrilled to be recipients of Network Performance Inc.'s 2004 Martin Luther King Day community service project," says Vermont Campaign to End Childhood Hunger's Executive Director, Robert Dostis. "Their offer to improve our computer systems will help create a more efficient work environment."
On Martin Luther King Day, NPI will optimize and update the PCs and network at VTCECH. Remote access will also be set up for outside users. The project also includes making recommendations for the next generation server, printer set up, and Network Administrator training.
The Vermont Campaign to End Childhood Hunger (VTCECH) is a statewide, non-profit, member supported organization with a mission to develop programs and advocate policies to prevent hunger and promote good nutrition for Vermont families. They help communities create, maintain, and access nutrition programs for children that provide a long-term solution to hunger. VTCECH provides technical assistance and helps eliminate barriers communities and individuals face in taking advantage of essential nutrition programs. VTCECH also teaches families how to purchase and prepare nutritious affordable meals.
NPI is a Vermont-based service company providing design, installation, support, and training for business computer networks and software. Additionally, NPI offers a range or security options and a new spam, and virus, filtering service called SpamRejector™.
"We can't think of a more important cause than the end of childhood hunger. NPI is delighted to help improve the effectiveness of this valuable community service," Eric Hart, Vice President of NPI.
